WHO WE ARE

• Shell is an integrated energy company that aims to meet the world’s growing demand for energy in ways that are economically, environmentally and socially responsible
• Sustainability has long been a part of Shell’s businesses. In the late 1990’s we made an explicit commitment to it in our General Business Principles, and we published the first Shell Sustainability Report – the first from a major oil and gas company, and one of the first from a major corporation.
• For Shell, sustainability is not just an abstract principle. The fact is, it makes good, practical business sense. It allows us to increase trust and build lasting, positive relationships in the communities where we operate.
• In collaboration with other companies, governments and civil society, we work to promote sustainability on three levels by:
  • running a safe, efficient, responsible and profitable business;
  • sharing wider benefits where we operate; and
  • helping the world evolve towards a low-carbon energy system.

OUR PURPOSE: powering progress together to provide more and cleaner energy solutions.

• We recognise the significance of climate change, along with the role energy plays in helping people achieve and maintain a good quality of life. A key role for society – and for Shell – is to find ways to provide much more energy with less carbon dioxide.
• Being a world-class investment is key to retaining shareholder support now and during the energy transition.
• Today, Shell is still primarily an oil and gas company, but we have a long tradition of innovation. We know that long-term success depends on our ability to anticipate the types of energy and fuels people will need in the future and remain commercially competitive and environmentally relevant
• We aim to work closely with our customers, our partners and policymakers to advance a more efficient and sustainable use of energy and natural resources.
